A Moundville man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a chase that spanned multiple counties in West Alabama.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says highway patrol officers initiated a traffic stop on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 36-year-old Dennis Clay Sagely. ALEA says Sagely was observed following another vehicle too closely on Highway 69 South at approximately 3:48 p.m. on Friday, January 8th near mile marker 137.

Sagely refused to stop and continued north on Highway 69 towards Interstate 59/20, leading enforcement agencies through Tuscaloosa, Greene, and Pickens counties. After assistance from ALEA’s Highway and Marine Patrol Troopers, Greene County Sherriff’s Office, Pickens County Sherriff’s Office, Pickensville Police Department, Aliceville Police Department, Carrollton Police Department and the Eutaw Police Department, Sagely was stopped and apprehended at the intersection of Highway 17 and Interstate 59 in Greene County.

Sagely was charged with multiple traffic violations in addition to Attempting to Elude and Reckless Endangerment and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
