Each year, The Steve Harvey Morning Show gives away thousands of turkeys in affiliate markets, and this year’s event will take place on Tuesday, November 24 at 3 p.m. at Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) of Tuscaloosa, which is located at 618 14th Street in Tuscaloosa.

According to its website, the purpose of Child Abuse Prevention Services of Tuscaloosa is to provide education and awareness programs for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Therefore, hosting the turkey giveaway remains in line with the organization’s goal by providing food for those who might not otherwise have a meal.

“Lack of food in the home is one of the greatest issues of concern in terms of neglect.  All too often, children live in households that are full of love but empty refrigerators,” said Lisa Maddox, Executive Director for CAPS, “and the parents might be ineligible for other assistance for whatever reason. Any time we can offer support in families receiving what they need, that’s what we’re going to do.”

Some of the programs and services offered by CAPS include Second Step, Understanding Prenatal Drug Exposure, Child Protection Unit, Nurturing Baby Program, Seminar on Shaken Baby Syndrome, Internet Safety, Preventing Child Abuse, and more.

For more information, visit Child Abuse Prevention Services online or call (205) 758-1159 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Of course, a dinner also needs the assistance of beverages. So, Pepsi decided to jump on board and add in a 6-pack of Pepsi for every person who receives a turkey.  For a complete list of Pepsi products, click here.   To see a complete line of other food products you probably didn’t know were produced by Pepsico, click here.

A special shout out to Patterson Comer Law Firm, located at 1323 Hargrove Rd East. Once informed of the cause, the attorneys pitched in to offer their support in the endeavor. For information on their areas of practice, click here.

We each have so much for which we are grateful, including Steve Harvey and his vision to provide turkeys to his listeners across the country!
