34-year-old Jimmy Templeton was killed early Sunday morning after his truck overturned on Bear Creek Road, two miles east of Tuscaloosa. The accident is under investigation.

Bibb County Judge Marvin Wiggins has reduced the sentences of 29-year-old Matthew Cloyd and 28-year-old Benjamin Moseley to time already served. Cloyd and Moseley were convicted of burning several rural churches in 2006 and will now serve probation after their release.

Home-game ridership numbers are on the rise with about twice as many riders in comparison to last year so far using the Tuscaloosa Transit Authority during this year's three home games.

Harteslle Mayor Don Hall has had his license suspended after being arrested on a DUI charge.  A temporary license for Hall was issued, but it will expire on Oct. 20, and his license will be suspended for 90 days after that.

Unrest continues in Ferguson, Mo after a police officer was shot in the arm late Saturday evening. Initial protests following the killing of Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson ended for nearly a month, but began again last Tuesday after a memorial for Brown was destroyed by fire.

A new survey shows that banks are earning larger fees when customers overdraw their checking accounts or use non-affiliate ATMs, with the average fee for an out-of-network ATM rising to a high of $4.35 per transaction and with an average of $32.74 for overdrafts.

"The Equalizer" took the No 1 spot at the box office with a $35 million opening, followed by "The Boxtrolls" with $17.5 million and "Focus Features" with $17.2 million.
