Tide Standout Keon Ellis Shines in Third Summer League Game
Former Alabama player Keon Ellis is off to a great start to his NBA career playing in the Summer League for the Sacramento Kings.
Ellis and the Kings played for the championship in the California Classic on Tuesday where he had yet another solid game en route to a 87-75 win against the Los Angles Lakers.
The undrafted rookie finished his third summer league game with 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals while shooting 40% from three.
The Florida native just recently signed a two-way contract with Sacramento after having a big game against the Miami Heat. Ellis finished with a game high 17 points, six boards and one assist leading Sacramento to a 81-64 victory.
Ellis has always been known for his defense since arriving at Alabama in the 2020-21 season. He complemented the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year in the SEC, Herb Jones nicely as the Crimson Tide made it to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2004.
Now the 2022 SEC All-Defense selection needs to improve his shooting and he could be one of the better 3-and-D guys in the league. So far, Ellis is only shooting 20% from three, however it is a small sample size, as he has only played in three games.
The Kings will now travel to Las Vegas to defend their Summer League title as they square off against Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
