Ironically, as we prepare for a severe weather event this afternoon and evening, today is the 19th anniversary of the tornado that swept through the Southeast from Mississippi to North Carolina.

The outbreak, which is said to have had 17 confirmed tornado, resulted in numerous deaths and more than 125 injuries! Source.

Many homes and businesses in the Englewood/Hinton Place area were severely damaged. A full report, including pictures, from that event, is available here.

If nothing more, remembering that day and the lives lost at that time should keep us on high alert and cause us to prepare for what the day may bring.
