James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the “SPC maintains a low end, "marginal risk" (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for areas south of a line from Livingston to Montgomery to Phenix City. A few storms across the southern half of the state could produce small hail and strong, gusty winds this evening.”

The overall timeframe of the system impacting the larger area is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that the overall main threats are damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to a quarter size, and we can’t rule out a brief tornado

“A few storms across the southern half of the state could produce small hail and strong, gusty winds this evening,” said Spann.
