I didn’t grow up being a fan of college football. It was the NFL for us. Our household allegiance was to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Miami Dolphins. Then we later traded Miami for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Something about Dan Marino crying during a game, and the next thing I knew, “we” were cheering for Tampa Bay.

It wasn’t until I got to college that I explored the world of college football. Then understood some of the processes it takes for players to get to the NFL.

Sidelines released its list of “states that create the most NFL players,” and honestly, I was shocked where Alabama landed on the list. The states with the least amount of NFL players were Alaska, New Jersey, Vermont, Maine, and New York.

The rankings are compromised by comparing “the number of players produced to the population of the states to find how many NFL players have been produced by that state per capita” since 1936.
