Trevon Diggs joined elite company on Sunday when he picked off Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold twice during the Cowboys 38-26 victory. Diggs became one of six corners in the Super Bowl era with eight interceptions through his first 16 games. He is also only the second player in Dallas Cowboys history to record an interception in each of the first four games since the NFL merger, joining Don Bishop who did so in 1961.

“I just feel like I’m just reading my keys, just being me, playing how I’m playing,” Diggs said. “Just trying to play at a high level, and I’m just trying to win.”

Diggs picked off Darnold on back-to-back possessions late in the third quarter. The first one came on a third-and-five throw from the Carolina 45-yard line and a 23-yard return from Diggs set up a Cowboys touchdown. Diggs then picked off Darnold on a third-and-three throw inside the Carolina 30-yard line to set up a field goal that extended the Cowboys lead to 36-14.

His five interceptions on the season leads the league through four weeks. Only the Saints as a team have more interceptions than Diggs so far this season. Diggs was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month for September, but the second-year player out of Alabama isn’t satisfied where he’s at.

“I haven’t reached what I wanted to reach and accomplished what I wanted to accomplish,” Diggs said, “so I feel like I still got work to do. Everything’s great, but I still got to fight, I still got to keep pushing, keep working, so that’s my main focus.”
