
Annual Tuscaloosa Breakfast Builds Paths to College and Trades
On Saturday, February 21, at 8 a.m., the Carl B. Montgomery Annual College Recruitment and Mentoring Breakfast will convene at Bailey Tabernacle CME Church, inside the Dr. W. C. and Kay Jones Education Building, located at 1118 22nd Avenue, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401.
According to the press release, “The purpose of this annual convening is to advance college, career, and workforce readiness among high school students by promoting informed decision-making related to postsecondary education, technical certification programs, and skilled trades.”
At the heart of the initiative is a coordinated blend of mentorship, expanded access to institutions, and community-rooted support networks, all working in concert to strengthen student persistence, academic achievement, and sustained long-term success.
“College recruiters, high school students, and organized mentorship groups are invited and encouraged to register and participate,” said the press release.

Program Highlights
- The program will feature a keynote address delivered by Cassius Lanier, Tuscaloosa City Councilman, Realtor, and Businessman.
- The breakfast convenes postsecondary institutions, technical and trade representatives, secondary educators, mentorship organizations, and community stakeholders.
- The purpose is to facilitate direct engagement with students.
- Expect direct engagement with students and to strengthen collaborative pathways that support educational attainment and workforce preparedness.
