Tuscaloosa Man Charged In Fatal Weekend Apartment Shooting
Tuscaloosa Police are investigating a fatal shooting, which took place in the early hours of Saturday Morning.
Tamir Sabree Melvin, 40, faces charges of Murder, and 2nd Degree Assult Domestic Violence, after authorities accused of him of shooting and killing Elantheus Deshawn Prince, 21, inside of the University Manor Apartments.
Authorities say that Prince was the boyfriend of Melvin’s roommate, a woman whose name was not released to the public, and the shooting occurred after Melvin confronted Prince in the woman’s bedroom..
Allegedly, Melvin fired a gunshot, which went past the woman, who was between the two men trying to separate them.
Tuscaloosa Police responded to a call and arrived at the apartment at approximately 2:05 a.m. The Unidentified Woman was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released. Prince was also taken to DCH where he was pronounced dead.
Melvin was charged, and bail was set at $90,000.
