Tuscaloosa Omega’s Hosts Blood Drive to Honor Charles Drew’s Legacy
The Alpha Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will honor Dr. Charles R. Drew by hosting a Sickle Cell Awareness Blood Drive. Drew known as the “Father of the Blood Bank” is still highly respected for his impact on the brotherhood of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Drew’s “pioneering research and systematic developments in the use and preservation of blood plasma during World War II not only saved thousands of lives, but innovated the nation’s blood banking process and standardized procedures for long-term blood preservation and storage techniques adapted by the American Red Cross,” said ACS, Chemistry for Life.
