University of Alabama Men's Basketball player Tyler Barnes has been named to the SEC Community Service Team.

The 6-foot-8 senior from Kentucky hasn't done much on the court but has been very active in the community.

His community service accolades are listed below. 

  • Has always been involved in community service projects during his time at Alabama and leads by example both on and off the court
  • A member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee at UA
  • One of the team leaders in in community service hours during the 2018-19 season
  • Donated his time in 2019 to help with the Lee County Tornado cleanup efforts
  • Participated in the Smile A Mile program which benefits children diagnosed with cancer & their families, helping them thrive during treatment
  • Has also participated in Liftoff Day and thank-a-thons throughout his four years wearing the crimson and white.
  • Maintains a 4.0 GPA as a chemical engineering major
  • A three-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has earned a spot on the President’s List and Dean’s List throughout his career

This is the 23rd year that the SEC Community Service Team has been in affect, with 14 members total.

The Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team will take on the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, where Barnes hopes to get some playing time.
