Alabamians should prepare for a temperature rollercoaster over the next few days. It may be hard to imagine frost or even a late-season freeze after temperatures recently climbed into the 80s, but it’s here.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Frost Advisory for portions of Alabama. This will go into effect Friday, March 13, starting at 1 a.m. and will last until 10 a.m.

Residents can expect temperatures as low as 36 degrees, resulting in frost formation. The National Weather Service in Birmingham advises that you should “take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”
