West Alabama Outlook Includes Extreme Heat to Heavy Rain
The Townsquare Media Weather Center is currently monitoring the potential for triple-digit heat index values and the increasing chances for rain over the next few days.
What can you expect? James Spann said it perfectly, “HOT, HUMID JUNE WEATHER.”

Friday and Saturday Outlook
The Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist also alerted residents that for today and tomorrow, there could be “widely scattered showers and thunderstorms around. The best chance of seeing a shower or storm will be from about noon until 8 p.m. on both days, and the odds of any one spot getting wet are 25-35 percent.”
Sunday Forecast
On Sunday, there will be more showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain at times. “Still, it won't rain all day, but the rain could be heavy at times with a good surge of tropical moisture moving northward,” said Spann.
Thoughts on Monday
“Global models continue to suggest a good chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday, but mainly along and south of I-20 (Tuscaloosa to Birmingham to Anniston),” said Spann.

Influx of Rain
We could be looking at several days (late weekend into early next week) of heavy rain, which could increase the overall total amount of rain we see across West Alabama. On the “up” side of that, the incoming rain could benefit the drought-stricken areas of Alabama.
