The University of Alabama's Homecoming festivities will culminate tomorrow with the game at 3pm, but Tide fans and local residents have the opportunity to enjoy numerous activities beforehand, such as the bonfire and pep rally on the Quad at 7 this evening, the Homecoming parade on University Blvd at 10:30 tomorrow morning, and the Coca-Cola Kickoff Zone at the Walk of Champions, opening at 11:30.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 3.8 earthquake rattled about 10 miles northwest of Eutaw early yesterday morning.  While the quake was strong enough to be felt, officials say no damage is being reported.

The appeal was denied for Jesse Mae Brown Pollard, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for orchestrating the kidnapping of a girl from a school in Scooba, Mississippi over a family property dispute.

A 15-year-old has been identified as a suspect in an incident on Sept. 26 in which a 76-year-old man was shot while trying to enter his home. The suspect faces charges of first-degree robbery and attempted murder.

State Revenue Commissioner Julie Magee is warning Alabama taxpayers about a phone scam in which someone claiming to be an employee of the Department of Revenue is calling taxpayers and telling them that they need to pay an amount due immediately.

House Republicans say they're obligated to fight President Obama's executive order to shield as many as 5 million immigrants in the U.S. illegally from deportation and grant them work permits. The order has been called a "brazen power grab."

A new poll suggests that employee benefits may continue to grow skimpier in the coming years. Companies that offer health insurance see it as a key tool to attract workers and keep them on the job, but 27 percent say they've changed their offerings in the past year, and another 34 percent have shopped around for a new plan.
