ADPH Confirms 4,268 New Cases of COVID-19 in Alabama the Past 14 Days
The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 4,268 new cases of the novel Coronavirus across the state within the past 14 days.The agency reports it has processed 66,255 tests in the previous two weeks.
Confirmed case numbers continue to grow, and now the ADPH's latest data shows 12,701 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alabama. Statewide 162,520 Alabamians have been tested for the virus.
The majority of confirmed cases (39.51%) of the novel Coronavirus are among those between the ages of 25 and 49. 24.41% of cases are among those between the ages of 60 to 64, and 24.45% of cases are confirmed in those over the age of 65. 10.7% of confirmed cases in Alabama are among those between the ages of 5 and 24.
In Tuscaloosa County, the Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 408 cases of COVID-19. Local physician Ramesh Peramsetty noted that the alarming increase in confirmed cases in a post on the local West Alabama COVID-19 Information group on Facebook.
Tuscaloosa County's 40 additional positive cases yesterday marked the highest increase in confirmed cases within a single day, and Dr. Peramsetty urged local residents to do their part to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus.
"Let's learn from it by staying home and stop the spread," Dr. Peramsetty said, "Please use commonsense and be responsible."
The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed eight deaths from COVID-19 within Tuscaloosa County. Statewide, the ADPH has confirmed 508 deaths as a result of the novel Coronavirus.
