No. 2 ranked Alabama won in walk-off fashion for the second consecutive game and clinched its fifth conference series of the 2022 season. The Tide returned from a 6-1 deficit starting in the sixth inning and sealed the game with a two-RBI line drive to left field from freshman Megan Bloodworth.

Alabama coach Patrick Murphy was pleased with how his squad finished the game.

"Really big at-bats in the sixth and seventh [innings], by a lot of people."

The Tide looked dead in the water for most of Friday's matchup in Game 2 against Mississippi State. Sophomore right-handed starter Jaala Torrence got banged up in her starting appearance, leading her to be pulled through just 1.1 innings of work. She gave up four hits and five runs total which left Alabama playing from behind for most of the game.

Senior RHP Montana Fouts entered the game for one at-bat to bridge the gap between Torrence and closer Alex Salter. She struck out the only hitter she faced in six pitches before turning the ball over to Salter to close the second inning.

The two teams endured three scoreless innings before Salter gave up an unearned run from a fielder's choice in the top of the sixth inning, bringing the lead to 6-1 in favor of MSU.

Alabama's three-run bottom half of the sixth swung the momentum and showed the team as well as its home fans that the game was still winnable.

Salter stranded two Bulldogs on base in the seventh and recorded a strikeout to end it with the 6-4 score still intact.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, senior catcher Ally Shipman launched her eighth home run of the season to bring Bama within one. First baseman Kaylee Tow and shortstop Bailey Dowling, who both recorded a home run in the game, drew back-to-back walks.

A Jenna Lord single loaded the bases for fellow freshman Megan Bloodworth and the seven-hitting second baseman dropped a two-RBI double into left field for the walk-off series win

Alabama recorded four home runs in the comeback win including a Kaylee Tow solo shot in the second inning a homer from both Bailey Dowling and Jenna Lord in the sixth and Shipman's bomb in the seventh. Dowling and Shipman are still tied as clubhouse leaders in home runs (8) and Lord's shot was her first in an Alabama uniform.

Though she only threw six pitches, Montana Fouts will get credited with the Game 2 win making her 18-3 on the season.

Redshirt freshman Alex Salter backed up her no-hit victory over Alabama State with her second strong performance in a row. On Friday, she finished out the game for Alabama with 5.1 innings pitched, five hits, two strikeouts and just one earned run.

Game 3 between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide starts a 4 p.m. CST on Saturday as Alabama looks for its second SEC series sweep of the 2022 season.
