Banks, out of Houston, has appeared in 24 games for the Crimson Tide largely on special teams and as a rotational defensive back. He started one game in 2021 against the Mercer Bears. He's recorded eight tackles and one interception during his time with the Tide.

The junior made his decision to enter the portal just days after freshman Kool-Aid McKinstry started at cornerback in place of injured Josh Jobe.

Banks never redshirted in college and the NCAA ruled the 2020 season would not count due to COVID-19. He will likely have three years to play two more seasons.

The NCAA altered transfer portal rules in the summer of 2020 allowing players to change schools without sitting out a season.

Banks will likely be a sought after player in the transfer portal but it is worth nothing that he is allowed to withdraw from the portal and return to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama brought in three cornerbacks in the 2021 recruiting class, McKinstry, Devonta Smith and junior college prospect Khyree Jackson.

Alabama has one cornerback committed in the 2022 class, Alabama-native and Thompson Warrior, 4-star Trequon Fegans.
