Alabama Department of Public Health: COVID-19 Vaccine Now Waitlist Only
Following an overwhelming response for COVID-19 vaccination appointments, the Alabama Public Department of Public Health now says anyone who requests the vaccine will be placed on a waitlist.
On Friday, January 7, the ADPH announced its plans to make the COVID-19 vaccine available to first responders and the elderly and received 1.1 million vaccination requests on Saturday, January 8. The agency has been working to schedule appointments for those who requested the vaccine and has now allocated all available vaccines.
"At present there are no more appointments available at county health departments," the ADPH said.
Those who wish to schedule a vaccination appointment can still call the COVID-19 vaccination hotline at 1-855-566-5333. Calls will be answered seven days a week from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
"The call center will take your contact information and add it to a waiting list," the ADPH said. "Callers will be contacted as soon as more appointments are available."
Alabamians are reminded that local hospitals and county health departments are not in charge of vaccine allocations and that the only way to obtain a vaccine appointment is through the ADPH's hotline.
