
Memorial Day: Sections of Alabama Face Flood Watch and Severe Risk
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, residents across Alabama can expect “scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms for each day this week.”

Memorial Day Severe Weather Threat Details
Now, for Monday, Memorial Day, May 25, the Storm Prediction Center has portions of Alabama under a level 1 out of 5 risk (Marginal Risk) for severe thunderstorms.
The threats associated with this active weather threat include a brief tornado and damaging winds.
Areas in the risk zone include the following Townsquare Media Coverage Area counties: a good portion of Bibb, Greene, Hale, and Perry; the southern portion of Pickens; Sumter; and the southern portion of Tuscaloosa County.
Those in the risk areas should stay weather-aware between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Flood Watch
In addition, a Flood Watch is in effect until Tuesday, May 26, at 10 p.m. This includes the following counties in West Alabama: Bibb, Hale, Perry, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
