Alabama men’s basketball head coach Anthony Grant announced that 6-7, 210-pound forward Jeff Garrett has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his playing career at the Capstone.

Garrett is originally from Gadsden, Ala., but played the 2013-14 campaign at Oldsmar Christian School in Oldsmar, Fla. He is the third player in this year’s signing class from the state of Alabama.

Garrett becomes the fourth signee in a recruiting class that was already ranked as high as No. 21 in the nation. He joins Justin Coleman (Birmingham, Ala./Wenonah HS), Devin Mitchell (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hills HS) and Riley Norris (Albertville, Ala./Albertville HS) as the newest members of the squad.

As a senior at Oldsmar Christian under head coach Jordan Fair, Garrett averaged 18.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. Playing in the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA), considered one of the premier conferences in the state of Florida, Garrett helped lead the team to a 25-10 record and a spot in the SIAA Final Four.

Garrett is rated as a three-star prospect by 247sports.com, which also ranks him as the 17th-best prospect in the state of Florida and the 35th-best forward in the nation. He was selected as a third-team all-state performer by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

Prior to coming to Oldsmar Christian, Garrett was a standout at Gadsden City High School where he earned 2A first team all-state honors in 2013. During his junior season, Garrett averaged 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
