Alabama Softball Sees Two Enter Transfer Portal

The Alabama Crimson Tide softball season surprisingly came to an end over the weekend after Stanford won and advanced to the Super Regional round out of the Tuscaloosa Regional.

Upon the conclusion of the season junior catcher Abby Doerr and freshman infielder Jenna Lord have put their names into the transfer portal, according to a report from ExtraInningsSoftball. 

Doerr played in 78 career games for the Crimson Tide across three seasons, including the COVID-19-shortened season of 2018. In 42 games, including 35 starts in 2022 she tallied a .227 batting average along with 17 RBIs and one homerun.

The junior from Eugene, Oregon will have two more seasons of eligibility remaining. She will be remembered by Alabama faithful for 2-run homerun in the Women's College World Series against Arizona in 2021.

Lord appeared in 45 games as a true freshman with 30 starts and finished fifth on the team with a .289 batting average. The Hewitt-Trussville native tallied 19 RBIs along with two homeruns, she received the third-most playing time in her freshman class trailing only Dallis Goodnight and Megan Bloodworth.

The Crimson Tide returns catcher Ally Shipman for her super senior season. Shipman started 49 games behind the plate for Alabama and will likely assume the bulk of the playing time in 2023.
