Alabama Weather: Heat Advisory + Possible Strong Thunderstorms

Severe Thunderstorm Warning [wind: 60 MPH (RADAR INDICATED), hail: 1.00 IN (RADAR INDICATED)] for Hale [AL] till 2:45 PM CDT
The brutal heat continues for our area today and there is a “heat advisory” in place. There is the potential for heat index values to range between 105 and 107. Be sure you are staying aware of these hot and humid conditions.
Heat Advisory Details
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has continued its previously issued “heat advisory” until Sunday at 9 p.m.
Here are the counties that are under the advisory: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Calhoun, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.
Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Information
Along with the “heat and moisture comes an unstable atmosphere and thus, a low risk for a few strong to severe storms this afternoon,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Risk Areas
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “a weak surface boundary will bring a few strong thunderstorms to Alabama later today; SPC has the southern 3/4 of the state in a "marginal risk" (level 1/5 of severe thunderstorms).
Threats
The main threats are damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter-size hail.
