ALERT: Extreme Heat Brings Dangerous Heat Indices to Alabama
Today, Sunday, August 6, there is a concern for extremely dangerous heat index values in portions of Alabama along with the threat of severe weather.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that “we can expect heat index values to rise over 105° for much of the area, and could rise above 110° across southern and southwest counties, including the cities of Demopolis, Selma, Montgomery, and Troy.”

Heat Index Values Up to 112 Degrees Expected

This warning impacts the following counties: Autauga, Bibb, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued an “Heat Advisory” for Sunday, August 6 from 9 p.m. until Monday, August 7, 9 pm.

This advisory impacts the following counties: Autauga, Bibb, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.
