An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 struck the Los Angeles area on Monday morning at 6:25 a.m. local time, waking up many residents to begin the new week. According to the U.S. Geological survey, the quake started about six miles northwest of Beverly Hills.

Television station KTLA was about to toss to a commercial break during its morning show when the two anchors were startled by the shaking. They knew immediately what was happening outside of their studios and took cover under the desk as the traffic camera being shown in the background gave the viewers a sense of how strong the movements were.

Give these two credit for a quick reaction and subsequent recovery to begin reporting on the quake as people all along the coast were still feeling the effects.

This was the largest earthquake to hit the region in six years according to KTLA.
