An earthquake shook a small area in West Alabama earlier this morning.

According to Jacob Lanier, a meteorologist at WJTV News in Columbus, Mississippi, a 2.6 Magnitude earthquake appeared around 3 a.m. Thursday morning in west Alabama.

The shallow epicenter was recorded near Fayette, Alabama, about an hour northwest of Tuscaloosa.

There are no further details in regard to damage or residents affected at this time. The Tuscaloosa Thread will update this story as information becomes available.
