Calvin Ridley Feeling Great After Undergoing Foot Surgery This Offseason
The Atlanta Falcons are five days into training camp and Calvin Ridley is feeling great after undergoing foot surgery this offseason. Ridley told reporters on Tuesday that his foot is "totally, definitely fixed."
"In the offseason, I was really worried about myself," Ridley said. "But now, the best thing I could have did was get the surgery and it really helped."
Last season, Ridley hauled in 90 receptions for 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns and was named a Second-team All-Pro. He led the NFL in completed air yards with 1,097 and 72.2% of his catches went for a first down. Ridley ranked in the top 5 in receiving yards and receiving yards per game. The Falcons rewarded Ridley by picking up his fifth-year option this offseason.
The Falcons selected the former Alabama wide receiver with the 26th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. In three NFL seasons, Ridley has recorded 217 receptions for 3,061 yards and 26 touchdowns. Ridley will move into the No. 1 wide receiver role after Atlanta traded Julio Jones to the Tennessee Titans in June.
"With Calvin, there's a long-term plan," Smith said. "The good thing about Calvin, you got to pull him back and he understands the big picture bringing him along. More reps today and we'll continue to see how he progresses. Really happy with Calvin and what he's brought so far."
The Falcons will play their first preseason game next Friday, Aug. 13 against the Titans.
