How exciting, there will be an upcoming Kentuck Art Night. The free event will be socially distant, and masks will be required. It all takes place on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 5 pm until 7 pm.

The February Kentuck Art Night will feature the exhibit “Good Trouble: Civil Rights Past and Present. It will be in the Kentuck Museum Gallery, Teer Gallery, and SoNo Gallery. The Facebook Event page notes that the “exhibiting artists will be Tony Bingham, Lynthia Edwards, That’s Sew Gee’s Bend, Darius Hill, John “Jahni” Moore, Ruth Robinson, Sir Chris Da R Tist, Yvonne Wells, and Bernard Wright.”

This premiere exhibition “Good Trouble” features the work of at least seven Alabama Black artists. The Kentuck Art Center hopes that it “achieves several goals: to highlight Black voices, to provide a space for these artists’ works to continue the conversation about the Civil Rights Movement past and present, and to inspire empathy and the desire for change through the visual storytelling of these Black artists.”

The Kentuck group reminds you that registration by February 4^th at noon is required to attend the event. It will be an in-person and socially distant occasion. According to the Facebook Event page, there is some pretty specific guidance as well. “Masks are properly worn over your nose and mouth required for the duration of the event. Buildings will have limited capacity to allow social distancing. There will be a check-in table at the front door. Temperatures will be taken, hands will be sanitized, and staff will make sure each attendee is wearing a mask correctly. That means cover your nose AND your mouth. A dedicated staff member will sanitize all high-trafficked surfaces at least every 30 minutes. Please remember to keep 6 feet apart from the people around you.”
