While everyone is headed to the beach this summer, go in the opposite direction. Take a trip to the Pigeon Forge. It is perfect for all types of settings. Family, Couples, Girls Trip, Bachelor parties, the list is endless. There is so much to do there.

In Pigeon Forge, the list of things to do can get overwhelming. From mountain adventures to wine tastings, the opportunities for fun or relaxation are endless. For me, I like to try new adventures with a few must-dos. Next time visit, I’m checking out a new museum, getting a massage at the St. Somewhere Spa, and getting a few good meals and drinks.

Whatever you do, be sure you stop by my favorite place, the Old Mill. There is a lot you can do there. The history is pretty interesting as well. The Old Mill is “one of the oldest continually operating gristmills in the country and one of the most photographed mills in America.”

The Old Mill has the Old Forge Distillery, General Store, Farmhouse Kitchen, Pigeon River Pottery, Sassafras, Pottery House Café, Old Mill Creamery, Candy Kitchen, and my favorite place, the Old Mill Restaurant.

You can go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all the meals at the Old Mill Restaurant. It’s delicious. Each plate is filled to the brim with goodness. For breakfast, you can’t go wrong with the Old Mill County Breakfast. Lunch, the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich is a winner. It is a three-way tie between the Southern Fried Liver, Country Fried Steak, or Southern Fried Boneless Pork Chops if you go for dinner.

Another must-do on my Pigeon Forge list is white water rafting. You can go on an exhilarating or relaxing rafting excursion. I’ve done both and loved it. Check out Raft Outdoor Adventures; they have rafting trips on the upper and lower Pigeon River. Be sure to get your picture made; it’s a keepsake.

Now my family will tell you, the only reason I travel to Pigeon Forge is to spend too many hours at Christmas Place. Here’s the deal, I love Christmas decorations. This place is a dreamland of holiday spirit. The last time we were visiting, they said I had only one hour to spend in the store. That challenge was accepted, and I found so many wonderful trinkets.

A summer weekend in Pigeon Forge will be such a great time; trust me on that. My advice is to plan ahead as much as you can. If you go on a jammed-packed weekend, you will have fun. If you go to rest and take in the views, you will have fun. You can’t go wrong with this trip. Did I mention there is an outlet mall too?

Now where to stay? That’s another endless list. Look below for a great airbnb.
