Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has extended the state's current "Safer at Home" order through Friday, July 31st in an effort to reduce the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

The current order was set to expire this Friday, July 3rd; however, the decision was made to continue the order as confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the state continue to climb. Governor Kay Ivey stressed personal responsibility during today's press conference, urging Alabamians to follow CDC guidelines to mitigate the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

"When you're out in public, for goodness sake, wear a mask," Ivey said.

Governor Ivey also noted that she felt the State of Alabama would have an issue enforcing a statewide mask mandate and instead asked residents to make the choice to wear a mask on their own.
