Hurricane season is not over yet. It runs until November 30. Currently, Subtropical Storm Nicole could develop into a strong tropical storm over the next few days. Also, the system could even arrive to Florida as a hurricane due to the warm waters along the projected path.

Tracking

Currently, “Nicole is tracking north-northwest right now but is expected to bend more westward toward the Bahamas and Florida through midweek,” said The Weather Channel. In addition, the expectation is that it will arrive on Florida’s eastern coast Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “it should be stressed, however, that no matter Nicole's ultimate intensity, the storm's large size will likely cause significant wind, storm surge, and rainfall impacts over a large portion of the northwestern Bahamas, Florida, and the southeastern coast of the United States during much of the upcoming week.”

According to The Weather Channel, “Nicole was deemed the 14th storm of the Atlantic season early Monday morning and is centered several hundred miles east of the Bahamas.”

What Does This Mean for Alabama?

“Nicole will remain well east of Alabama, although some of the eastern counties could see some rain along with breezy conditions Friday,” said Spann.

We are closely monitoring Nicole for any changes and will bring you the necessary updates.
