TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Crimson Tide escaped Wednesday night with a double-overtime thrilling victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks 117-115. Star sophomore guard Labaron Philon led the way for head coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide with a career-high 35 points in the victory, with 21 coming in the second half and overtime. It's the second time he's scored 30 points or more, surpassing his previous career-high of 32 points against Mississippi State on January 13.

Philon wasn't the only one who had a career night. Star freshman Amari Allen notched the fifth double-double of what appears to be a one-year college career, finishing Wednesday's double-overtime win with 19 points (third-most in a single game in his career) and 11 rebounds (tied for the second-most in a single game in Allen's career). He was Alabama's second-leading rebounder, only behind sophomore big man Aiden Sherrell, who hit multiple career milestones. Sherrell finished the night with a career-high 26 points, surpassing his previous high of 22 points, also against Mississippi State on January 13. Sherrell didn't stop there, as he was the Tide's leading rebounder with 13 boards, also the most in his career. His Wednesday night performance was the first double-double of Sherrell's career with Alabama.

Lost in the (understandable) flurry of the game going to double overtime, and the career performances by Philon, Allen, and Sherrell were those of junior guard Aden Holloway and graduate guard Houston Mallette. By no means was it a career night for either player, but Holloway did not miss a shot on Wednesday. He was a perfect five-of-five from the floor, four-for-four from the free-throw line, and made the only three he attempted, ending the night with 15 points. Meanwhile, Mallette came in from the bench, played 29 minutes, and he was two-for-three from beyond the arc. Mallette didn't even attempt a shot until the first overtime period, which he drained to give Alabama a two-point lead late. After Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr. tied the game again, forcing a second overtime, Mallette's second make of the night was the dagger into the hearts of the Razorback faithful, sinking a three in front of the Alabama bench to give the Tide a four-point advantage. Alabama would hang on to win 117-115, despite Trevon Brazile making a dunk to cut the deficit to two points. The Tide's defense rose to the occasion, getting two stops on the same possession as time expired.
