A woman who was shot several times in west Tuscaloosa Thursday night is expected to survive, and investigators are searching for the person who fired on her.

Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to the 3200 block of Cordell Street at about 7:45 p.m. Thurdsay.

Sellers said officers found an adult woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds but said her injuries are not life-threatening.

The VCU has taken over the investigation, and Sellers said they are searching for a currently unknown male suspect who shot at the victim and struck her several times.
