A Louisiana Police Department has apologized after using a Purge siren to announce the beginning of its town curfew.

Police in Crowley, Louisiana apparently blasted the sirens from their police cars on Saturday night to announce the start of the curfew. KATC reports Crowley Police Chief Jeremy Broussard had no knowledge of the siren's association with The Purge and does not plan to use the siren again in the future.

The Purge is a 2013 horror film in which Americans celebrate a special holiday where all crime is legal for a 12-hour period, so you can see why a cop blaring a Purge-style siren would be a little distressing during a global pandemic.
