A 21-year-old is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail after he allegedly opened fire on staff members at the Motel 6 on East McFarland Boulevard Thursday morning.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the suspect, Timothy Lee Temms, rented a room at the motel Wednesday night and stayed past check out time Thursday morning.

Temms allegedly argued with motel staff who came to the room and asked them to leave Thursday morning, before leaving in his vehicle.

Kennedy said Temms returned shortly with a gun and opened fire on two motel employees and a guest.

No one was struck or injured, but the bullets entered several hotel rooms and a bystander's vehicle, Kennedy said.

The shooter left the scene before law enforcement arrived, but Kennedy said officers interviewed witnesses, collected physical evidence and more and identified Temms as their suspect.

The 21-year-old was arrested this weekend and charged with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting into an occupied building and one count of shooting into an unoccupied building.

Temms remained in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Monday morning on a combined bond of $230,000.
