Spann ‘HERE COMES THE HEAT’: West Alabama Faces Triple-Digit Heat Index
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist, said it perfectly, “HERE COMES THE HEAT.”
We are at the beginning of the summer season, and the National Weather Service in Birmingham warns of “increasing heat stress Friday onward.”

The concern is for heat index values to climb above 100 degrees across the region. Hot, humid weather will increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for people who lack proper cooling or stay inadequately hydrated.
“Get ready for the hottest weather so far this summer by the weekend and next week with highs well into the 90s,” said Spann.
