Police Charge Suspect with Murder After Death of Shooting Victim
A man who was seriously hurt in a shooting in Tuscaloosa last week has succumbed to his injuries and police have charged the man accused of pulling the trigger with Murder.
Lt. Jack Kennedy, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the victim, 36-year-old Rayshard Richey, was shot several times at Monnish Park on 15th Street in Tuscaloosa last Tuesday.
Officers interviewed witnesses and collected evidence before charging Robert Mitchell Williams, 40, with the shooting.
Kennedy said the two men were cousins, and were arguing over money that may have been owed between them when Williams allegedly shot Richey multiple times.
Kennedy said Monday morning that Richey did not survive his injuries and the charges against Williams have been upgraded to murder.
Williams remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
