SEC Baseball Tournament Updates And Where The Tide Stands

With less than four weeks until selection Monday for the NCAA Tournament, the college baseball season is quickly coming to a close. The Crimson Tide is currently 28-16 and 11-11 in conference after a weekend series against No. 2 ranked Vanderbilt. Alabama sits comfortably in the middle of the pack for the SEC tournament, while still playing to prove they belong in the NCAA Tournament.

The SEC announced that tickets for the SEC Baseball Tournament will begin Wednesday, May 12 at 10 a.m. CT. All-session tickets can be purchased for $110. Those looking for single game tickets can purchase them for $20 each starting May 22. More information can be found on the SEC’s official website.

The Hoover Met in Hoover, Alabama will once again be the host site beginning May 25 and will conclude Sunday May 30. The tournament will include the best 12 SEC teams. The first round will be single elimination style, followed by double elimination Wednesday-Friday, and ending with single elimination style on Saturday. The championship game will be Sunday, May 30 at 2 p.m. CT.

Due to ongoing Covid-19 concerns, the SEC has provided a list of protocols for safety. All seats will be assigned, meaning there is no general admission seating this year. Masks are required when entering and leaving the stadium and still encouraged while sitting. There are no Fan Fest activities and the clear bag policy will still be enforced.

As far as Alabama’s chances to making the NCAA Tournament, there are varying opinions. According to D1Baseball, The Tide is not currently projected in the field of 64. However, Baseball America has Alabama as a No. 3 seed playing in Lubbock, Texas in their latest report.

The Crimson Tide still has an away series at LSU and a season closing home series against Mississippi State. Both projections are sure to change as the college baseball season continues to play out across the country.
