As co-host of the Steve & DC Show, on 95.3 The Bear, we discussed the finding this morning.

YES, that's right the hornet was found in a home right here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

My partner, DC, is extremely allergic to hornets of any kind. I believe a name like "MURDER hornet" is enough to frighten those of us that aren't allergic!

So far, to this columnists best research, no murder hornets have been found this far this deep in the South.

So, i found this hornet, near death. and it did not take much of a swat to put him out of his misery. I placed it in a cup and looked closer.

It immediately struck me as looking very similar to the Asian Murder Hornet. But, what do I know?

If this is the first one, how could it be the only one? My partner on the radio, DC, has a fancy "insect app" that costs $45 a month. That's pretty fancy. The app allows you to take a photo of any insect and run it through the app.

The app does an analysis from all the entomology records in the entire world, as well as actual entomologists studying the photo and giving their take. This seemed to be agreed on by every expert.

That is the hornet found here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

DC swears his insect super-duper app has not let him down as of yet.

How did it get here?

What do I do next? Should I call some government office?
