This 'Manson' Follower Killed Sharon Tate And Then Hid In Alabama

I thought I knew everything about the infamous "Manson Family" murders in 1969.

Multiple books and movies (including the excellent "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood") have been produced about the two night killing spree in August of '69.

I've seen them all and yet I never knew that one of the most vicious, awful killers of the bunch headed for Alabama!

Charles Manson definitely had some kind of strange power. He was able to lure young, beautiful girls into his sordid family by the dozens.

The woman known as "Big Patty", Patricia Krenwinkel, was a willing participant in the murders on the first and second nights of killing.

August 9, 1969 was the first night of murder.

Krenwinkel took pleasure in the brutality she unleashed on Abigail Folger, stabbing her so many times it began to break her knife.

Later in court she said "I stabbed her and I kept stabbing her."

She had no remorse. Again, at trial, she said the murders were the "right" thing to do.

She was arrested for auto theft and her dad bailed her out of jail. The police had no clue they had one of the murderers. That's when the story is disputed a bit.

Some say Charles Manson ordered her to flee to Alabama, while Krenwinkel admits that she thought it was a good idea to flee to a state far away from California.

The scary thing is that she might have gotten away with the murder of a pregnant woman, if not for one big mouth.

Enter Susan Atkins. Truly evil, she bragged about the murders to her cell mate.

Because of those confessions, she was hunted down by Alabama State Police and US Marshalls and arrested in Mobile, Alabama on December 1, 1969.

NOW, after everything she did and admitted doing, she is up for parole once again.

AND, it looks like it is going to happen.

Patty or "BIg Patty" has been recommended for parole in 2022.

I don't know how I feel about that development.
