UA Cancels Spring Break, Delays Start of Spring Semester A Week
The University of Alabama announced Wednesday that it will cancel the 2021 spring break holiday and instead delay the start of the spring semester by one week.
According to an email that was sent out to UA students and families, classes for the spring 2021 semester will begin on Jan. 13, a week later than normal, and a mid-semester "wellness/study day" on will be granted March 15.
"Classes will look much the same as they do this semester, with the majority having an in-person component and remote options in case a student or faculty member needs to quarantine or isolate," UA's Division of Student Life said in the email.
UA will also continue mandating and enforcing health and safety protocols on campus, requiring students to practice social distancing and wear masks into the spring semester. Faculty and staff will still be able to take a leave of absence for symptoms, quarantine and isolation related to the coronavirus.
