West Alabama’s Severe Weather Threat Details Plus Timing Guide
We encourage you to stay aware today because our Townsquare Media coverage area is faced with the potential for damaging winds, hail, and a brief tornado is possible. “Some storms could become severe with enough shear and instability available,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
For Southeastern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, a Tornado Watch is in place until 1 p.m.
Risk Areas
Most of our coverage area is under the “Marginal Risk.” There is a portion of Perry County and a tiny corner of Bibb County is under the “Slight Risk” area.

Possible Threats
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “storms this afternoon and evening could produce small hail and gusty winds. An isolated, brief tornado can't be ruled out, but isn't likely.”
Current Timing
“Highest risk of a tornado this afternoon is over Southeast Alabama, where instability values are a little higher. The main window for the stronger storms will come from about 1:00 until 7:00 p.m.,” said Spann.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has provided more details on the timing for our Townsquare Media coverage areas.
