This a developing story, according Alabama State Trooper spokesman Trooper Chuck Daniel an officer was hit with a bullet but was spared serious injury because he was wearing a vest.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Interstate 65 at exit 280 in Warrior.  According to authorities two suspects were also wounded and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

This not the first officer-involved shooting for the Jefferson County police department this is the third in less than a year.

A man was shot in the leg in March following a chase and in October police shot and killed a man near Warrior-Trafford Road while conducting a driver’s license checkpoint.
