The Alabama Crimson Tide football team has been making headlines as award watch lists are being released. Alabama senior Josh Jobe and junior Jordan Battle have been named to the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List. The Thorpe Award is given annually by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame to the nation's top defensive back.

Alabama has had two Thorpe Award winners in its history, Antonio Langham won the award in 1993 and Minkah Fitzpatrick took home the honor in 2017.

Jobe has been a regular contributor for the Crimson Tide having started each game in 2020 and two games in 2019. Jobe tallied 55 tackles with two sacks as a junior and only gave up 26 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown in 521 coverage snaps.

Jobe's physical reputation proceeds him as he was also named Preseason All-SEC First team and was listed on the Bednarik Watchlist as he is expected to fill the Tide's No. 1 corner position this fall.

Battle, a junior safety saw playing time as a freshman before earning a fulltime starting role in 2020. Battle notched 66 tackles last season, good for third on the team, and added four pass breakups along with a pick-six.
