Alabama Starting Corner Has Foot Surgery, Will Miss Remainder of the Season

The Alabama Crimson Tide secured the SEC Championship by defeating the Georgia Bulldogs in Mercedes Benz Stadium this past Saturday. The Crimson Tide will now turn its attention to the College Football Playoff where Alabama will be matched up with the Cincinnati Bearcats on December 31. The Crimson Tide is looking to win its second national championship in a row but will now be without one of its starting defensive players.

According to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports, Alabama senior cornerback Josh Jobe underwent foot surgery this week and will be unavailable for the Tide's playoff run. Jobe has been dealing with a turf toe injury that has impacted his availability most of the year.

Alabama now turns to Jalyn Armour-Davis as its primary cornerback and will likely use Kool-Aid McKinstry as the second corner when the Tide takes on Cincinnati in Dallas.

Armour-Davis has been limited recently with a hip injury but there is positive speculation that he will be healthy for the Cotton Bowl. McKinstry has seen more and more time recently with the injuries to Armour-Davis and Jobe.

The Tide could also turn to junior college transfer Khyree Jackson to replace Jobe's snaps. He has played in 10 games this season and recorded two tackles.

Jobe, a senior, has likely played his final game for the Crimson Tide as he entered the year as one of the better cornerbacks in the class. He appeared in 51 games for Alabama tallying 129 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
