James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “unsettled weather will continue over the southern 2/3 of the state through tonight. SPC maintains an "enhanced risk" (level 3/5) of severe thunderstorms for much of Central and South Alabama.”
Concerning Threats
Large Hail
A few isolated tornadoes can't be ruled out.
Alabama already has felt the impact of hail and the sizes range from a quarter to, a golf ball, and even a size of a lemon.
Spann mentioned that the “SPC has introduced a hatched area across in the enhanced risk, meaning a strong tornado (EF-2 or higher) is possible.” Also, “there will be multiple rounds of thunderstorms through tonight; the higher risk of a tornado will come this afternoon and evening. The risk of severe storms north of I-20 (Tuscaloosa to Birmingham to Anniston) is very low.”
