Alabama is home to some of the best quartet gospel groups and to be home of the American quartet sound is no different. The American Gospel Quartet Convention is entering it's 29th year January 22-23, 2021 in Birmingham, Alabama however the event will be virtual.

The quartet industry within gospel music has seen a resurgence in the last few years as many new groups have emerged with a new quartet sound without forgetting their landmark roots. Countless legendary gospel quartet leaders such as The Williams Brothers, Keith Wonderboy Johnson, Doc McKenzie, Lee Williams and The Canton Spirituals have impacted the gospel community and radio with their signature sounds.

The American Gospel Quartet Convention was founded in 1993.Through seminars and conferences their goal is to reaffirm the spiritual foundation of gospel quartet music. The event has been a favorite for years for quartet lovers across America chaired by George Stewart who come to Birmingham annually.

The theme for the convention this year is Zachariah 4:6 "Not By Might, Nor By Power, But By My Spirit"

The pandemic has shifted the convention to be virtual creating the "Virtual Extravaganza" experience with two power filled days industry seminars, daily sessions, award presentations, and hall of fame inductions. The AGQC will feature 40 plus performances from groups and individuals from the United States and globally.

Many quartet legends such as The Texas Boyz, Luther Barnes, Darrell Luster and others will be attendance. New independent gospel quartet groups such as Glorified, The Selvys, Rohn & ReBorn and Ronica Bowers and many more will perform and will received awards.
