When the novel coronavirus first began spreading across West Alabama, it was said that the only people who could test for the virus were those who presented with symptoms.  However, it has also been revealed that not everyone with the virus will have all symptoms.  But knowing your status is the best thing you can to do protect yourself and others and give you peace of mind.

There are few places to be tested in West Alabama, but a new one has emerged:

St. Peter AME Zion Church (3033 26th St; Tuscaloosa, AL) will host the American Medical Screening, Inc. which will administer free COVID-19 drive thru and walk up testing on Saturday, November 21 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

No appointments are required, and anyone is welcome to test, including those without insurance. However, those with insurance are requested to bring their insurance cards for collection of information.  All wishing to be tested must also present a photo ID.

It is important to note that not everyone with the viral infection will present with symptoms. However, those with COVID-19 may notice mild symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea, and/or sore throat.

Numerous accounts of testing indicate it is a much less than pleasurable experience, but the subjects would better be safe than sorry. Though registration is not required for this event, those wishing to pre-register or to obtain more information, call (256) 50-COVID.

Get tested for COVID-19 and learn the next steps to take for prevention or to keep from spreading it to others.
