
First Friday Art Walk Showcases Tuscaloosa Art Scene
The First Friday Art Walk returns on Friday, May 1, with a fresh take on tradition, featuring a vibrant lineup of exhibitions and gallery experiences.
This is a great way to celebrate the city’s thriving art scene. The First Friday Art Walk invites residents and visitors to explore local galleries, connect with artists, and experience a wide range of creative expression across downtown Tuscaloosa.

At the Paul R. Jones Museum, there will be the feature of The Domestic Liminal: The In-Betweeness of the Home.” An engaging exhibition co-curated by Tiffany Hawkins and Scott Moore.
The Lorrie Lane Studio will host multiple exhibits from 5 to 9 p.m. The main studio will highlight paintings by Lorrie Lane. Gallery 22 will feature “C2: A Collaborative Art Exhibit,” organized by Tiffany Amirkhanian, Ruth O'Connor, and Trisha Schuster.
At The University of Alabama Gallery, visitors can view “NO TITLE – Maz Derakhshani,” an exhibit that remains on display, offering another opportunity to experience the artist’s work.
Coming up at the Harrison Galleries on May 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. will be the 5th Annual Verner Art Show, curated by Tuscaloosa City Schools art teacher Molly Brooke Threadgill. “The event is expected to feature between 1,500 and 1,700 works of art in its second-floor gallery, representing students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade,” said the press release.
