Former Stillman College athletes to be introduced into the schools Hall Of Fame on Friday February 7, 2025, at 8:30 A.M. during Stillman’s Homecoming week.

Inductees:

Dr. Archie Wade - Baseball

Thomas Wesley- Baseball

Nicole Chester - Track and field

Glenda Gilcud - Basketball

Lester Dent - Basketball

James Toombs- Basketball

Dr. Archie Wade was a multi-sport athlete and became Stillman's first player to join a Major League Baseball farm system. Wade was also the University of Alabama's first Black faculty member. Dr. Wade recently passed at the age of 85.

Thomas Wesley was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds and played several years of minor league baseball before his career as a player ended. He continued his career in baseball as a coach at schools such as Snead State, Stillman, and Alabama A&M. Wesley passed away at the age of 51 on March 9, 2009, and will be inducted posthumously.

Nicole Chester, Stillman College’s first two-time NCAA All-American, was a four-time qualifier for the NCAA DIII women’s track and field. She finished her career at Stillman with a 23 and 3 record in dual meets as well as breaking Stillman’s discus record at 147 feet and 6 inches.

Glenda Gilcud is another inductee for the 2025 Hall of Fame class. Gilcud was Stillman’s leading scorer for women’s basketball averaging 33.4 points in the 1996-97 season and 30.2 points per game in the 1997-98. She’s set many records at Stillman, as well as playing professionally in the New Providence Women’s Basketball Association.

Lester Dent, Stillman College's second member of the 1,000 Point Club in men's basketball has scored a known 1,762 points in three seasons. Dent is also the 1973 All-American and secured the NAIA District 27 scoring title in 1974-75.

James Toombs, set single-game, single-season, and career points scoring records for Stillman College men's basketball during the 1960s. His 64 points in a single game remain the most scored by an individual at an Alabama-based institution.

These six former student athletes will be honored as the 2025 Hall of Fame class.
